What is the root cause of a cracked cylinder head?
Normally this is due to a failing in the cooling system, a flash overheat or frequent excessive temperatures. Excessive heat within an engine causes distortion primarily in the cylinder head. Deflection becomes stress, leading to stress fractures (cracks) or porosity at the weakest points in the casting.
